Details:
Elijah Wyman is a young artist living in the Boston area. His music is lovable, acoustic, indie that could be played alongside of, but certainly not confused with, the likes of Pedro the Lion, Sufjan Stevens, and Adem. His songs flow smoothly from near comatose mellow to wide awake clap-alongs.
Elijah grew up in Southern California, the only son of a preacher and a dental hygienist. His adoration for music began as a boy when he uncovered a forgotten drum set buried in his garage. Since then, he has played in numerous bands, drumming or playing bass, but it wasn't until a few years ago that he picked up a guitar.
As a songwriter, Elijah is simple and concise. His music is composed and recorded humbly, straying from pomp or hype. His lyrics are honest but not sappy. Performer Magazine has praised them as, "Witty," and, "Subtle." Many songs follow common themes and complete stories together.
Elijah's live show is constantly changing. Generally he is found
accompanied by Samantha Hale (a 4th year Berklee student) on piano/clarinet, but line-up can range from solo performances to an odd mishmash of instruments littering the stage. Lately, he has been seen playing backed by hammered dulcimer, piano, clarinet, muted trumpet, and a random array of small percussion. Whatever the orchestration, the total sound is always greater than the sum of its parts.
Elijah is currently finishing a degree in writing. He is married to a lovely young artist named Rhonda. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in Metalsmithing. Together they have a kitten named, "Puppy," and live in a quaint apartment in Danvers, MA, where they create art and music and write as much as possible.
Elijah's 3rd release "Beautiful Like Words" (Blue Duck Records) will be available 1/18/05 at all Newbury Comics Locations and online at www.BlueDuckRecords.com.
