A veteran to the Atlanta-based music scene, singer/songwriter Anitra Holley has found her home in Americana. Formerly the frontwoman and songwriter for rock band Amerigo Poppy, Anitra has traded her angst of youth for a more rootsy, reflective approach to songwriting. Calling upon her childhood influences, listeners may hear tinges of Joni Mitchell, Emmylou Harris and Johnny Cash in Anitraâs writing.

Always coupled with acoustic guitar, you may also hear upright bass, dobro and, oftentimes, mandolin accompanying the soothing vocals of this songstress. Mood seems to play a large part in Anitraâs music. The use of instrumentation, soul stirring melodies and gripping lyrics seamlessly meld to create the appropriate feel for each song.
