His first CD, "Eliott James EP" was released in the Fall of 2004, a five song disc in the singer-songwriter vein with songs recorded over the previous ten years. No doubt a quick nod to his acoustic roots that go back many years to when he first ventured into live performing and songwriting. While he had recorded dozens of songs in his music career, none had been released until "EP", and those five songs were all he wanted to release. Perhaps a hint of his discontent to remain where he had been.

A year and a lifetime later, "Cinematic Life" has little in common with "EP" except for his passion for acoustic elements, as heard in cello, harp, piano, bass and guitar. Where he leaps from the past is when these are mixed with strong beats, synths, and electric bass and guitar leads, giving us eleven songs that span several styles, that are hard to classify and even harder to compare to other artists. But they are not in the singer-songwriter vein.

Composed over a period of six months in 2005, there are hints of jazz, rock, electronica, new age, dance, and soundtrack influences in these songs but not one consistent style that runs throughout.

He sounds comfortable here, a new direction and a new passion.
