"Wonderful! Both of your voices are at the same time stunning and relaxing. A beautiful approach to the deliveries, and the music is flawless. I may not have a child of my own, but I am going to recommend 'Stardust' anytime I can."
-Ray Vawter, Homer's Music
Omaha and Los Angeles residents, Cher & Gene Klosner (KLOZE-ner), a sister-brother, singer-songwriter duo, originally from Omaha, Nebraska, have been performing their signature harmony-driven acoustic sound across the United States for many years. Their rich, intricate vocal sound has been described as âaudible chocolate.â Performance highlights include World Youth Day, with Pope John Paul II, President Clinton and a half a million teens from around the world (which led to the release of their CD, Denver), The Grand Ole Opry, American Magazine, College World Series, the 6-city Autumn Festival and Spring Festival tours, and many 9/11 tribute events in New York and L.A.
In addition to their performances at music festivals and colleges, Cher & Gene Klosner have been heard on radio stations, jingles, and on various television and animation projects produced by Cherâs husband, Emmy-award-winning âThe Simpsonsâ animator/Assistant Director, Ben Lane. Their song "Please Don't Send Me Fruitcake," from their Christmas album, Ribbons and Pine, was featured on the nationally syndicated Dr. Demento radio show, and was recently recorded by The von Trapp Children, along with Cher's "All I'll Ask This Christmas.â âPlease Donât Send Me Fruitcakeâ has been performed by several symphonies, including the Omaha Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, the Minnesota Symphony, and the Cincinnati Symphony, conducted by the legendary Erich Kunzel.
Cher & Gene Klosner were commissioned by The United in Memory Foundation to compose a song for the unveiling of the United in Memory 9/11 Memorial Quilt, which took place aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. The resulting song, âTower of Love,â was also performed in New York on the second and third anniversaries of 9/11 at the opening ceremonies of the United in Memory 9/11 Memorial Quilt display. The song evoked such a tremendous response that Cher and Gene decided to make "Tower of Love" available as a free download on their website, www.cherandgeneklosner.com. "Tower of Love" has since been used in many 9/11 memorial tributes.
While touring around the country during the week, Cher & Gene spent many Sundays visiting churches in whichever city they happened to be performing, introducing one of their side projects called Light the Fire! - a collection of contemporary liturgy/worship music. These visits inspired their third album, a sacred album entitled, Sunday, and a collection of liturgical music available to churches world-wide at www.LighTheFireMusic.com
Cher and Gene have just finished up recording their fourth CD, Stardust, a two-disc lullaby collection for all ages, many of which were sung to them as children by their own mom, and that Cher now sings to her own little boy, Benjamin. Stardust features the talents of many members of the Omaha, Symphony, Omaha Conservatory of music and many top-notch jazz players from the Midwest.
They are also working on a singer/songwriter collection, Here in the Distance, and a second Christmas collection.
