E.L.P.T.(Exposin' Lies Proclaimin' Truth), is a rap group based out of New Jersey, that formed in late 1999. They began recording their demo in the spring of 2000, and by the fall, had hooked up with former Jive recording artist B.B. Jay, and began to tour with him.
As a result of traveling with B.B. Jay they have experienced performing in front of audiences of thousands. Some of the places they have performed at were, Six Flags Great Adventure, Newark Symphony Hall, and "The Riverfront" in Chicago, to just name a few. They also made a cameo appearance in the Dez(wife of veteran NBA star, Mark Jackson)music video in the summer of 2001. Also, in Februrary of 2004, E.L.P.T. won first place in the rap category at Hezekiah Walker's, "When Singers Meet" music conference. Just recently they made an appearance on the "Mix Masters Lounge" where they performed three songs and were interviewed. The show should begin airing in the fall of 2005, on the "Inspirational Network".
In 2002, E.L.P.T. formed their own record label, E.T. Entertainment, and began forming a roster of artists for their label. In the spring of 2004, they began putting together their debut album, "The Foundation", which will be released in 2005.
E.L.P.T.'s music is based on the issues of life that they've experienced, seen others experience, or things that are taking place in our world today. "The Foundation" is an album that has a little something for everyone on it. They come with a style all their own, focusing on making music that is lyrically thought provoking, and at the same time, bringing beats that keep you nodding your head. Their music is hard to define when trying to compare them to other artists, but some of their influences in hip hop range from
Wu-Tang, Nas, 2 Pac, Biggie, Jay-Z, and Mobb Deep.
E.L.P.T.'s desire is to speak to as many people as possible through their music. They've received a good response to their music from people in the music industry to people on the streets. They are sure to leave their imprint on the world of hip hop and beyond. This is just the beginning for them, and a bright future lies ahead.
