Details:
After splitting off from Ballroom Dancing in the fall of 2006, Jason Dooley retreated to his basement to record his debut album. Under the name of Mermaid Police he emerged with a self-titled album and plenty of catchy guitar-based pop tunes to augment his solo performance tour.
Borrowing some old friends from Ballroom Dancing, Mermaid Police toured through the summer of 2007 as a 6 piece band and had a blast, but in the fall Jason decided to cut back to the basics and again hit the basement to record an album. This time he took young drummer Zack Butler as his sidekick.
Together they channeled Jason's love of synth pop to produce the band's latest album, 3 ½ Stars, which will be released in early December. Embracing the influence of bands like Wilco, the Buggles, and ELO, Mermaid Police's latest cd of retro-inspired concoctions will definitely appeal to a wide array of fans.
