Details:
Acoustic folk music is alive and well with melodic indie folkster, Molly Cherington. By way of her musical roots firmly rooted in small-town, Northeastern folk heritage, she has taken to the guitar since her childhood years, when she began playing on her fatherâs acoustic guitar. These humble beginnings in New Hampshire have spawned into a creative beginning as an indie contemporary solo artist. Currently based and burgeoning out of Denver, Cherington has developed into a beautifully charismatic performer, poised to bring her charm, humor and sharp song writing sensibility to an expanding and eager fan base.
Since arriving on the live music scene under two years ago, Cherington has garnered increased acclaim, with fans and critics referring to her live performances as works of beauty. Grounded by a comforting stage presence and intelligent and self-relating lyrics, she identifies with her listeners, much like many of the folk greats that came before her. She has now arrived through uniquely endearing, refreshing and witty qualities. These are just a few of the some of the most commonly used adjectives used to characterize Cherington.
Her warm and inviting, hard-crafted compositions are catching ears, especially after her recent pairing with slam poet Katie Wirsing (Denver Team Slam National Champion, 2006) and a successful opening jaunt for Erin McKeown. After a short stint through the northeast earlier this year with Wirsing, Cherington was also then asked to provide material for the soundtrack of activist Mark Turnerâs (Ripples Cross) upcoming film. Denver's renowned folk-hub, Swallow Hill Music Association, calls Cherington a charming up-and-comer, but even that title wonât last long with the release of her debut full-length album, Our Minds Were Made. Keep an eye out in the northeast in 2008 as Cherington takes to the road, playing spots throughout.
