Details:
The Nouveaux Honkies started as an idea, came to fruition as a duo, and now are a slammin quartet. Thirteen years ago Tim O'Donnell (guitar/vocals) started his training, backing and traveling with various gospel and blues acts around the country and overseas. In 2004, the 4 hurricanes that pummeled Florida left O'Donnell scratching his head. In 2005, this blond hair, blue eyed, white boy from Port Salerno Florida, met Rebecca Dawkins (violinist) and The Nouveaux Honkies were birthed. In one year of their first self titled release, this quartet has quickly made a name for themselves through the southeast with there unique sound and blistering show. O'Donnell's imaginative yet authentic approach combine his convincing vocals with his faithful guitar work. Dawkin's beautifully haunting violin lays in the mix and projects perfectly. This smoothly lays over rhythm sections, Ben Laing (bass) and Phil Ori (drums) deep and sensitive approach. This bands well conceived interpretations of blues and R&B classics combined with their retro approach of O'Donnell's original material give them the fire power to headline any show. Their self titled 2007 release "The Nouveaux Honkies" saw great reviews, both in the states and overseas and their brand new 2008 release "Where Do I Go" is a true roots/blues extravaganza, with footstompin 2 beats, Double shuffles, R&B grooves and gospel tinged instrumentals. Listen to it or catch them live and you will be Honkified like the rest.
