Shawnmarr Zoo Bio
Smythe, Worlmyn and 100 Percent NP, make up Shawnmarr Zoo. Smythe stands 59 215 pounds, Worlmyn measures 58 and 150 and Hundred at 63 218 pounds. Their music is a reflection of their lives and experiences and it captivates listeners, pulling them into a world that Canadian music has yet to discover. With the Canadian urban industry seeking new direction and stability, Shawnmarr Zoo brings originality with their catchy tunes and self-made off the wall instrumentals.
The 3 artists grew up in the same area, which they actually called Shawnmarr Zoo. The name actually derives form the diversity of the neighbourhood locals representing the area. With all races, cultures and ages being meshed into one extended family, Shawnmarr Zoo effectively displays the multi-culturalism that defines Canada as a whole.
Shawnmarr Zoo is nothing youve heard before, they thrive on being different. They base their music on being âsomething elseâ, something you want to listen to. When their music comes through the speakers, they want their listeners to enjoy the tunes. Innovative phrases and different dictionary terminologies, not to mention crazy song names such as âKidnap the Santa Clausâ make Shawnmarr Zoo a marketing tool and a potential top seller in this industry.
100 Percent NP makes most of his noise in the booth. Rapping or singing he takes music to the next frontier. A voice nowone can forget paired with a steady, fresh delivery, NP holds it down for the streets and the ladies alike with music people want to hear. The NP stands for negative, positive. It represents the balance between the two that is required to succeed and the struggles it takes to maintain that balance.
Worlmyn is the groups high octane. As a producer/rapper he is innovative, and electric. From the boom bang production style to the high energy vocals when Worlmyn touches a track, it changes. He is inspired by Jamaican studio one reggae (Jackie Maitto) and it shines through his instrumentals clearly as he easily separates his style from anything else listeners have come across. Worlmyn uses his music to express his emotion and vision to a planetary perspective. In a genre of music that lacks creativity, Worlmyn stretches the boundaries of the imagination with his potions of sound.
Smythe is a experimental wonder. Usually in the booth, this rapper/producer sometimes expresses himself through bangin basslines, melodic choruses, and toe tapping rhythms. Smythe walks to his own drum, inspired by 90s rock, Canadian diversity and modern hip hop. If Smythe produces a track it usually walks a thin line, blending styles and formations of music seamlessly. Endless styles of poetry driven lyrics and witty punch lines separate Smythe from emcees past or present, and with a keen business sense, a work first play later attitude and a desire to succeed at home before traveling abroad, Smythe takes the persona of a rapper, artist or emcee and smashes it.
Shawnmarr Zoo is prepared to take on the world, and have a larger than life approach to almost everything they do. From rocking house shows and parties to holding functions in at the Port Credit boat club, this team of artists are proven crowd pleasers. With their first LP in the works they already have major market hits in the Toronto club anthem âliquored up on Richmondâ and the mesmerizing âkidnap the Santa Clausâ. A@Rs and Labels will look at this group and their music and the first idea to pop into their heads will be âthese guys can sellâ. In Canada, that is a phrase that is much needed as urban music as whole has yet to prove it âcan sellâ. But with Shawnmarr Zoo ready to take the dive into mainstream music the question becomes âwhos better suited to break this market than them?â.
