Born in Chicago in the Spring of '53. I was adopted as an infant and grew up in Alton, IL (near St. Louis, MO). When I was ten (10) the Beatles showed up and made my hair stand straight up! I had hair, up there, then. I was going to be a drummer, but Dad said I had to use a practice pad first . . . so, I found the guitar at age 12 -- a $5 Stella. Then at about age 14 I won a little Harmony guitar off a movie stub ticket! After that I started learning 3-chord Bob Dylan songs (and being able to play and sing at the same time!) and started writing my own stuff in 1971. I discovered Gordon Lightfoot in 1973. Wow! He has been a big influence on my writing. I tend to write from passion and inspiration -- some of my songs are quite like a musical diary; however, I know I have a commercial hit somewhere in my catalog (or at some point will have). I'd like to write for rising stars or established performers; however, it looks like I'm going to be the guy doing my stuff. That's okay; [God willin'] I can do it.
