Details:
With the perfect ambiguity that only a poet can conjure, my friend the poet Michael Gizzi, calls Wolf Krakowski "an old soul man," a phrase that neatly captures both the musician and the man. Listening to Wolf's music, it's clear that his is indeed an old soul, one that has lived numerous lifetimes on this earthly plane. Wolf's is a timeless sensibility, as ancient as the Biblical injunctions paraphrased in "The Power" and "Head 'em Off At The Pass" and as modern as the saxophone that swirls fat riffs of R 'n' B around his voice. But for all it's timeless resonance - its integrity "unbounded" by space and time - it is the music's emotional depth that makes this recording a transcendent piece of work and provides the soul of the poet's equation.

A guy so veritably steeped in the soul music of cultures spanning both Old World and New could not help but pour forth this admixture of rootsy horn-drenched blues, country and gospel, folk and R 'n' B music, and stamp it with his inimitable voice and worldly signature. This is quintessential North American melting-pot music made by a man born in Europe and raised in the cosmopolitan alleyways and byways of Toronto. He literally ran off to join the carnival, hung for days with blues legend Big Joe Williams and was part of a street-theatre troupe. He has taped countless yards of sheetrock and painted more houses than you or I could count, so when he sings, "I've been maced, spaced, displaced and disgraced - No fixed address, no cup of tea," it rings true with the matter-of-fact authority of an old soul man.

From the Liner Notes

"Sounding slightly nasal, but also wry and playful, Krakowski isn't someone who likes to hold back - he pours out his pain but also makes it interesting. His willingness to take chances in his material and arrangements - sometimes backed by catchy horns and female vocals - sets him apart. Like the title of his opening song, he is likely to continue "Blasting In The Everlasting" long after others have run out of things to say."
DIRTY LINEN

REJUVENATING HERITAGE

"Wears the mantle of of prophet lightly and wryly and rocks hard. Sardonic and witty." FIVE STARS
NEW YORK JEWISH WEEK

"A wonderfully honest voice revealing the most inner feelings."
GILOJTIN (Norway)

"Presence, stylistic poignancy and musical concentration are the hallmarks of this CD. Music with street credibility."
YELAH (Sweden)

"At least two continents and one century's worth of musical traditions swirl through the mix of Northampton-based Wolf Krakowski's rootsy collection of original tunes. where spiritual love songs and political anthems rub against country novelties, calypso, rags, blues and classic rockers.

With a backing cast on hand drawing on some of the Pioneer Valley's finest musicians, including the Lonesome Brothers, Krakowski - a deceptively gritty vocalist with a knack for phrasing like Willie Nelson's - has laid down some of the rootsiest prays disguised as party music since The Band's "Music From Big Pink."
BERKSHIRE EAGLE

"It doesn't get any more Alternative than Wolf Krakowski."
