It's called "Prog-tronica." Power trio plays a raucous blend of prog-rock, techno, jazz, and hip-hop that has been described as "Dr. Dre meets Danny Elfman at a rave."

Details:
Aleph-1 is an Ann Arbor based power trio which has forged a wholly unique sonic path since their inception in the early parts of 2007. Pioneering a genre that has been described as âProg-tronicaâ, they channel the energy and brio of the power trios of yesteryear, filtered through a distinctly 21st century worldview. Their music, while defying any specific genre, has drawn comparisons to artists as diverse as Danny Elfman, Dr. Dre, and The New Deal. Their self-titled debut album was released in the spring of 2008 and has been enthusiastically received by the public and critics alike. Their unrelenting live performances teem with a ruckus, soulful energy conspicuously absent from electronic music, and a hook-filled danceability not often found in progressive rock. In their short time performing together they have shared the stage with national acts such as U-Melt, Capillary Action, The Station, The Macpodz, Covert Operations, and My Dear Disco. Their energy and eclecticism has resulted in their being equally well-received by fans of rock, jazz, jam-band, and electronic music and they will be touring in support of their new CD throughout 2008.
REVIEWS
MIKE ROMINIECKI, THE NORTH WIND MAGAZINE, FEB 2008
Aleph-1's new CD is an outstanding instrumental electronica album. They seem to draw their influences from all over the place, but especially dub, rock, industrial and rave. Try thinking of Ghostbusters mixed with Phantom of the Opera, while tripping on acid, and that is similar to what Aleph-1 is like.
For fans of: The Faint, Rinocerose, 65daysofstatic, Aphex Twin

ADAM REY, ANN ARBOR'S 107one
"Emotional digi-jammin' with hooks you never see coming... it's great for dancing, and anything else you want to do with a fresh dose of awesome!"
QUOTES
"Aleph-1 fills the shoes. They make people dance, party, and forget about their normal life. I really can't even explain their sound or vibe but I'll try... Music that makes you wanna drag your lady friend on the dance floor and make out. Hot Hot Hot... Seriously... It's an instrumental three-piece of professionals, I never have to worry about any complicated sound issues, these guys don't even need a P.A. or a sound check. When they step into the club they step correct."
