ABOUT THE CD:

Enjoy some of the best-loved sacred songs of the past 200 years, ranging from Bach to American traditional to contemporary. Soprano Julia Schechtman Pabst is accompanied on piano by the conductor, Saul Schechtman, to such favorites as Gounod's "The King of Love My Shepherd Is" and the comforting "His Eye is on the Sparrow" in a fresh new arrangement.

Bach's "My Heart Ever Faithful" draws from a deep well of joy. A touch of Christmas, and the thoughtful and dramatic "Lord's Prayer" by Malotte round out this balanced mixture of lively and contemplative pieces.

Notes and texts for all songs can be found on the website SacredSolos.com.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Julia Schechtman has sung in various European opera houses roles such as Gilda in Rigoletto, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, among others.

Immediately previous to her career she studied opera at The Curtis Institute of Music.
