Details:
Nicola was born in Lurgan, Northern Ireland. She started singing with an Ulster based group Chips who had seen tremendous success in their own country. When she left, she immediately became involved in musical theatre in both acting and singing roles, playing Mary Magdelene in 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and appearing at the world famous Abbey Theatre in Dublin. She also appeared regularly on television having her own show on Ulster television. In 1977 she teamed up to form Swarbriggs Plus Two and represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest taking third place.
The following year Nicola headed for London where she joined the internationally renown group 'The New Seekers' taking over the place of Eve Graham. Nicola toured and recorded with them for two years. It was at this point she decided to strike out as a session singer and has since then worked with a wide and diverse cross-section of musicians and singers including Billy Idol, Alexander O'Neill, Eurasure, Mica Paris, Billy Connelly and Johnny Logan to name a few. She also toured and recorded with Murray Head, promoting the international hit 'One Night In Bangkok' from the musical 'Chess'.
In 1987, she joined forces with Level 42 and the London Philarmonic Orchestra, conducted by George Martin and had the pleasure of performing for Prince Charles and Princess Diana for the charity 'The Princes Trust' at the Birmingham NEC.
In 1992, when her best friend went into hospital, Nicola looked after her three young children. It was then that she had the idea of compiling a treasury of forgotten, traditional and modern lullabies and arranged them into a programme that would help children get to sleep. She called upon some of the finest musicians she had met in her career using their expertise to create 'Sleepytime Lullabies' which is now for sale across the world helping parents to calm and soothe their babies and infants.
