For novice blues harmonica players who want a focused introduction to the instrument, here's a bargain: four beginners' videos with the tab sheets thrown in for free, hosted by Adam Gussow of the blues duo Satan and Adam. Gussow is also the creator/webmaster of Modern Blues Harmonica and the host of "Adam Gussow's Dirty-South Blues Harp Channel" at YouTube.
After working through these lessons, and with sufficient practice, you'll be able to play your way through two different 12-bar blues; you'll have a solid chord rhythm under your belt; and you'll be able to produce a bluesy bent note. You'll be on your way.
This collection includes videos and tabs for:
Floyd's Hotel
Shuffle Blues Rhythm
Stompin'
Basic Blues Harp: Bending the 4 Draw
For descriptions of the contents of these individual lessons, plus free previews, please access the individual files from "the store" at Modern Blues Harmonica.
Note: These 8 files will download as ONE zip file.

Definitely worth it. Adam has a great teaching style, no nonsense real harp playing. You cant go wrong here!

Wow! I havent played since I was a kid chugging aimlessly straight-harp style, and I am immediately bending owing to Adams killer descriptions of how to do it. I actually screwed up and did the bending the 4 draw lesson first, but it turned out to be totally worth it because all the other lessons sounded that much better. Bending is SO EASY (for me), which is NOT the impression I got from many other sites out there. But the proof is in the pudding.
I have bought some more lessons since then, and since I am getting great results from these lessons, I am going to return the favor and post more reviews.
One thing I have found though is that I am really digging doing all the lessons in order, not skipping any. The songs after this pack all lead you along in a brisk but gentle fashion. I guess I was wondering if I could skip any, but once I get the tab and the video (both are necessary, as you miss little awesome tidbits and concepts if you just get the tab), I have not once regretted it.
Not only that, BUT...get this: all of the C songs before Whistlin the Blues (which sounds sorta different and more relaxed and "country livin" versus "chicago blues" to me) make ONE FREAKIN AWESOME big blues JAM!!
You string them together and you look (and sound) like a friggin champ! Really really good stuff. My wife is just gobsmacked by how fast I picked it up, but I know its just because hearing Adam allows you to "get the spirit" of it and play it PROPERLY. Definitely get each one in order, and get the tab and video. $7 a lesson is a pretty killer deal.
I get one and work on it for between 1 - 2 days, master it and buy another. The cost has been "arguably" steep, but so has my progress!
Really delighted, to say the least, with the whole thing. I would recommend not skipping a single lesson.
