Barbados to Boston: Sweetly Broken

Basil Yarde sustained a broken neck, was left broken physically, emotionally and spiritually, and was told he would never sing again. He looks back on what was the most difficult time of his life and says: âI was crushed, but sweetly broken.â Today he still has steel and screws in his neck but he is still singing and has just released his newest album, âCrushed, But Sweetly Broken.â This new CD has songs both familiar and new; an inspirational blend of Contemporary Christian, Gospel, and with a dash of reggae.

"Basil Yarde's music goes to places in the heart that the spoken word often cannot reach, crossing boundaries that so often separate us, creating a common ground upon which listeners from myriad backgrounds and traditions can fellowship together. He has been blessed with a very special gift, so evident in this project," states Joe Fitzgerald, Boston Herald.

Raised in Barbados, Rev. Yarde is also a pastor and teacher, and has been singing for as long as he can remember. Performing before large audiences came very naturally, and singing proved to be a very powerful tool for transmitting a positive message. As an itinerant speaker and singer, Basil has traveled around the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and South America. The British government invited him to sing at various venues.

Currently, Basil resides in Boston with his wife of 31 years, Marion, and their son, Brandon. Their eldest son, Basil, Jr. still lives in Barbados. In Boston, Basil and his wife continue their âFinal Thrustâ ministry to train believers to effectively communicate the Gospel. He also hosts âMinistry in Spotlight,â a radio program on WEZE radio.
