On Unfurl, Burnt Fur craft new wave influences into a debut album that explores the beauty and brutality of nature and social behavior.

Lead singer and guitarist Scott Harrison produced the album to sound âslightly charred, like the band name,â creating a bombastic, overblown sound from which the band launch intricate melodies, swathes of electronic noise and furrowing guitars. Reverb drenched electronic drums punctuate the tracks while Harrisonâs vocals soar through feelings of elation through frustration. The well received singles "Vitriol" (May 2007) and "Radiate" (November 2007) are also featured on the album.

Inspiration for the album came from numerous sources, the forefront of which were the 1979 treasure map/children's book Masquerade by Kit Williams, New Order's second album Power, Corruption and Lies, 1980âs video games, and the social politics surrounding the Gay marriage debates raging in Massachusetts from 2003-2006. The lyrical content of the songs allude to seasonal changes from the first day of spring through the first day of winter, pontificating on the ways social behavior can be effected by oneâs environment.

The band features multi-talented members Patrik Tirda performing sampled electronics and synthesizers, Ian St. Germain on bass and electronic drums, and Shana Slater as second vocalist, and also on bass and electronic drums. During performances the members switch instruments between songs, continuously engaging their audience with their multi-faceted musical approach.
