Details:
Liz Bligan has been a singer all her life, and finds more joy in singing than in anything else other than her husband and son (who sings backing vocals on this CD). She has a "regular job" but takes every opportunity she can to sing with a band, sing in church, sing in choirs, and sing with Dave Nachmanoff, an amazing singer/songwriter with an ability to play any instrument, and who is a true virtuoso on guitar. Dave can be seen and heard with Al Stewart on tour; he opens for Al and plays lead guitar for Al.
Liz met Dave in 2005 and commissioned a tribute song to her mother, Marcena, with Dave. Dave, Liz, and her brother Peter wrote a beautiful song and Dave and Liz recorded it (with a little help from another brother, John, on trumpet). That led to Liz joining Dave on stage whenever he and Al are in Liz's neighborhood, and finally to this collaboration. Dave wrote five of the songs on this album (including "Mother Marcena"), and Liz's grandfather wrote the last song ("I'll Hold Your Hand") as a "courting" song to her grandmother back in 1919.
Liz wanted to cover some of her favorite songs from her youth, as well as some of her favorite Nachmanoff songs. Liz's voice rings clear and true, and she has an amazing vocal range. Dave's songs are beautiful and will put a smile on anyone's face and warmth in any heart. Dave also sings backing vocals on some of his songs, as well as the lead on "Mother Marcena," the tribute song to Liz's incredible mother. Liz's son Carl contributes beautiful backing vocals on "In My Life," "Postcard to Stan," "Wash Us Clean," and "Big Yellow Taxi." Carl, only 12 years old, has a beautiful baritone voice that blends perfectly with Liz's.
This album has been more fun that Liz should be allowed to have, and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we have enjoyed creating it.
