Ngoma Rhythms captures the raw essence of traditional Ugandan drumming at its core. And then breaks down each rhythm to its essential elements. Each rhythm is performed as a group by Akugoba Drum Makers of Mpambire, and then each individual instrument part is performed by itself! This allows you to gain a deep understanding of how the music is constructed for enhanced listening. You can also learn to play along through the oral tradition that this music is built on; through listening.

This CD was recorded and produced for Thevillagefoundation.org by Brent Chancellor in 2002. Tracked live in the Mpanga forest in Uganda, this unique recording is enjoyable to listen to as well as a great tool for learning new rhythms!
