Detour Posse is without a doubt the hottest Reggae band on the L.A. scene. These dynamic and talented musicians came together in 1994 seeking to create a new breed of Reggae music. Since then, they have been working hard and inspiring each other to create a high-energy, melodic blend of roots, dancehall, loverâs rock, ska, R&B and funk guaranteed to inspire lots of dancing in any audience.

The band features top musicians from around the globe, Trinidad, U.S., Virgin Islands, New York and California. Their varied backgrounds add to their diverse musical styles. They have risen up the ranks of the Los Angeles club scene to become one of the most sought after acts in reggae.

2001 brought the release of the Detour Posse's full length, self-produced CD entitled, âChariots in the Skyâ It has brought much critical acclaim as well as radio play on including Jamaica's IRIE FM and Los Angelesâs own Indie 103.1. It continues to gain momentum everyday. Chuck Foster of the Beat magazine writes âCongratulations to Detour Posse for managing to get their live energy onto a studio recording and offering up a package that is professional in every way while staying true to their rootical Caribbean vision."

The Detour Posse has truly established themselves as a top notch backing band, touring the globe with many international superstars such as Barrington Levy, Sean Paul, Kymani Marley, Lady Saw, Mr. Vegas and Wayne Wonder. Barrington Levy actually said that he'd never use another band, because DP makes him sound so good. They are so busy playing live shows and touring, they never get the chance to take time out and record in the studio, which explains why they only have one CD released together in over 10 years. However, both Dakeye and Zeb are now in the studio working on solo projects. Dakeye's much awaited CD is going to be full of romantic lover's rock tunes, featuring his smooth, sexy, smoky vocals. Zeb's is a high energy blend of dancehall and hip-hop. Audiences are always excited to see Zeb come out from behind the drum kit, where they are used to seeing him and watch him take control of the stage. The band has become a top draw, performing at huge concerts worldwide like Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Reggae on The River, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, the Greek Theater, Bob Marley Day in Long Beach, the San Diego Sports Arena, the Santa Barbara County Bowl, University of Virgin Islands in St. Thomas and the Boston Reggae Festival.

Never forgetting their roots, this band remembers to give back to their community by helping younger, less experienced artists to get exposure in the business. They host a weekly reggae club where local acts can showcase original music. The Detour Posse spends a lot of time coaching & mentoring up and coming artists in the studio and on stage.
