As the brush glides across a canvas, colour and movement evoke dreams captured with sound. From delicate pale blue harps to soaring golden strings, tender healing greens of piano to deep blues of a buoyant flute and fiery red guitars. âThe Paintingâ is a musical journey from musician Merrilyn Air, through the canvas of Silvana Messing-Notari. This fully improvised album blends a world of sound, colour, beauty, movement, inspiration and creativity.

Merrilyn spends a great amount of time experimenting playfully with the piano and this has truly come through in her latest work. Many years as a pianist/vocalist in some of the worldâs finest venues enabled her to finely temper her craft as a musician. She did, however, intuit that there was more to be revealed. The death of her father in 2001 led to profound changes in her music and she began to explore the ties between music, nature and healing, resulting in the release of her first instrumental album, âBreatheâ.
A mutual interest in creativity as a healing tool led her to a destined meeting with artist Silvana Messing - Notari. A resulting collaboration flowed effortlessly and in a stream-of-consciousness, âThe Paintingâ was born.



âWhen it comes down to it,â says Merrilyn,
âLife is much simpler if we learn to just breathe and stay in the moment. Then we become aware of who we truly are.â
