Thereâs no doubt about it, Rhonda is anointed to move the hearts of even the most stubborn listener. Her sense of humor, testimony and ability to be transparent prove Rhonda Funk to be a âRare industry gem,â according to Drew Marshall of Canadaâs most listened to Spiritual Talk Back Radio. Starting out her early 20âs as a single mother, Rhonda made a hard choice to put a second baby up for adoption in 1996. It was then that God moved her into His hands and she started writing song after song. She learned early on however, that walking the Christian walk was not always easy when she met Willie (now her husband). Just months after buckling her little boy into the car of his new parents, Rhonda became pregnant again. Except this time she would make the impossible choice. Being deceived by the world, she made her âchoiceâ to abort the baby.

Less than 8 months later she and Willie were married. Rhonda had her daughter Shelby, and Willie had a daughter from a previous marriage, Mariah (5 and 4 respectively). God then blessed them with two more children Ryan and Rylee over the next few years. In her testimony Rhonda shares how the aftermath of adoption and abortion turned the joyful occurrence of her later pregnancies into a silent prison. Yet, she pushed forward into the arms of her Father who has taught her great obedience and joy through suffering. Each moment of trial turned into a song.

In 1998 the Lord called Rhonda out. He took a nobody; a mother; a humble servant from a small community in Oregon and said clearly, âthis music is not for you in the privacy of your own living room, this music if for my children.â So, in faith the Funks made an appointment at the recording studio not even knowing where the money would come from. And, the money did come! Rhonda recorded a 3 song demo CD released in 1999. She began to minister at churches around the Northwest as opportunities opened. The next year, when the Funkâs least expected it, the Lord provided even more money to record a full length project.

It took nearly 2 ½ years for âThe Waitingâ to be released. Rhonda became impatient and even tried to open up her own doors. She thought that if this was her calling she should be doing it right now! But the Lord wasnât through with her yet. In 2002 the Lord said âLift the eyes of my people unto me. Do not worry about the CD.â Thatâs when Rhonda became a worship leader. From her church, Life In Christ Center Assembly of God in The Dalles, Oregon, the Lord formed a praise and worship team that at times consisted of 9 different churches from the Columbia River Gorge. âBring It On!â held monthly worship concerts for the community, a large picnic in the park and the âBring It On! Bashâ New Yearâs Party.

Willie had been sick with colds and the flu for a few months during that time. He had lost a lot of weight (however, looked normal because he had been a little over weight anyway). So during the New Yearâs Bash, Rhonda and 300 people wished Willie a Happy New Year over the phone. Within days, the Funk's lives came to a complete stop when they were informed that Willie had cancer. He was sent immediately to Portland to receive care.

Not knowing what to do next, Willie and Rhonda both had to learn what it really meant to submit to God. Willie prayed Satan under his feet and claimed healing, while Rhonda handed her husband over to the Creator Himself. By the end of the year, through incredible circumstances, the Lord provided a bone marrow transplant for Willie, financial security for a now bankrupt family, and Rhondaâs CD was released, finally. âThe Waitingâ as it is called sold 500 copies while the Funks were in the hospital and living in an apartment in Portland during Willieâs transplant. Each day their children prayed for healing, and each day the Lord revealed Himself to the entire Funk family.

It has been nearly five years now and Willie is still cancer free. The Funk family has followed God to Central Oregon where the Lord united Rhonda with Best Selling Author and Speaker Sheri Rose Shephard. (His Princess Minitries www.hisprincess.com) Rhonda has spent the past year serving on the His Princess Ministry staff as well as traveling as an assistant and singing with Sheri Rose to churches across the United States. Recently she stepped down to serve her family and to focus on the ministry the Lord has groomed her for. She has been working on two projects: one is her 3rd CD titled "Refined" and the second is an audio children's book series titled "The Pooky Diaries" (for girls) and "The Bubba Diaries" (for boys).

If you are just looking for a nice âfeel goodâ ministry experience, then Rhonda Funk is NOT for you.
