"The crafty, dirty Big Buildings return with "Wampum," an indie-folk concoction made to be played and heard in small, dark bars. I like the boozy, indie-pop quickness of "In A Parking Lot," and the acoustic, melodic patience of a song like "In With the Out Crowd." Even when the band expands a bit in scope, like on the (epic for this record) five-and-a-half-minute "Battleswords," itâs lovely and melodious, never reaching any moment of indulgence or overkill. The recordâs as good as anything the band has done before, if not better and more focused, all Replacements and Neil Young tainted, nearly drinkable."
