Born in Eugene, Oregon, Cat got her first guitar at 8 years old and began playing piano and writing songs at age 9. By the age of 14 she was playing guitar professionally and toured the country playing her original music, and by 18 she was recording professionally in the studio. It wasnât long afterwards when she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she played bass, guitar and keyboard for many Bay Area artists, including Bob Weir.

Catâs true love is the guitar, and has been influenced by the best: Jimmy Page, David Gilmore, Jimmy Hendrix, George Harrison, and âespecially my own guitarist who is truly one of the best; Jon Mulvey.â

Recordings.

All of Catâs recent music is released on her own Catastrophe Music label that she founded with her business partner and band mate Jon Mulvey (as well as their previous label, Catapult Records). Cat wrote all of the songs on her three CDs, yet she still has plenty of material to work with. She has written over a thousand songs in her career and continues to be as prolific as ever.

Catâs writing style incorporates many genres, often with a sardonic satirical twist. On her latest release âBe Happyâ she has Alt Rock, House, Industrial and even Country songâs that all have Catâs distinctive sound. âHoâ off of âCat III Be Happyâ is one of her songs that make fun of the image of women often portrayed in the entertainment business.

Over 100,000 Cat CDâs have been sold, and counting. Downloads for all three CDâs and soon to be released singles are available from their labels website at www.catastrophemusic.com. Cat and Jon have produced; engineered, and mixed all of Catâs CDâs to date.

âCat 3 Be Happyâ is receiving airplay in over 50 Countries and Catâs song âSeriousâ from âCat 2â was featured in the stage production âGod & Mr. Smithâ in both NY and Tokyo. The first and second CD (âCatâ and âCat 2 - Have a Nice Dayâ) was recorded and mixed at their own studio in Digital and 2 inch analogue formats. Both CDs charted on over 300 college radio stations as well as major commercial stations all over the country.

Recent Performances.

Cat recently has been the support act for The Tubes, Peter Frampton, Heart, Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose, as well as singing with friend Bob Weir and performing with Joe Walsh. Cat also performed with the great Fee Waybill and The Tubes in their classic song âDon't Touch Me There.â Cat also had the great honor to sing the National Anthem at the 2006 NHRA Drag Racing Finals in front of 70,000 people while being televised on ESPN and the A&E network.

Band.

Cat has a great new band: Jon Mulvey is still Catâs lead guitarist (not only is he a Joe Satriani protégé, but Joe has called him a âpeerâ). Tim Bailey of Nuclear Rabbit fame is on Drums, and Van Spragins (Paula Cole, Dale Bozzio) and Rob Fordyce are both switch-hitting on Bass.

Gear

For guitars Cat plays a Gibson SG, a Parker Fly, and a Martin HD-28. She has two JSX âJoe Satrianiâ 100 Watt Peavey heads with two 4x12 Peavey cabinets each (âIâve finally found my tone. Joe and Peavey hit it out of the park with this amp design.â) Effects include an analogue H2O Liquid Chorus & Echo by Visual Sound and a Cry Baby Wah by Dunlop. Her main keyboard is a Korg Triton Workstation / Sampler.

Experience

Cat was privileged to work with electronic music pioneer Professor Max V. Mathews at the Stanford University Music Department in the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). He is known by many as the âFather of computer music.â Cat was part of the development team that created the MIDI interface for the âConductorâ; a real-time computer system for musical performances. Cat also wrote many compositions used in support of Professor Mathewsâ research work on the âConductor.â These compositions were used in many of his worldwide public performances of this revolutionary new system.

The studio is a familiar place for Cat. She opened her own recording studio in San Rafael, CA, with Jon Mulvey after completing engineering school (BCA program at SF State University with Professor John Barsotti) and worked with many artists. Some of their clients included the Counting Crows, Keith Richards, Robert Cray, Metallica, among many others.

Cat co-wrote and engineered the U.K. top 20 hit by Father Guido Sarducci âEveryone is Free to Wear Camouflageâ with Legendary Producer Narada Michael Walden.

Cat has engineered for Bob Weir, Moby Grape, Mingus, Geoff Palmer (Sons of Champlain), Sheila Escovedo (a.k.a. Sheila E), Jerry Rice (yes, the football player), Don Novello (a.k.a. Father Guido Sarducci), among many others.

Cat has also written soundtrack music for network television with the legendary musician and producer Merle Saunders.

Additionally Cat previously held the position of Executive Producer at City Hall Records, composed music for the ad agency YMotion Media, and has extensive experience in music video production.
