From their first release "Initial", to Songs By Strung Out Singles, Feverdream have gathered critical raves from zines around the world such as The Big Takeover, Ink Nineteen, Vendetta and Flipside to more mainstream publications like The Melbourne Times, BAM and even Rolling Stone.
Their rich diversity of sound and texture has made Feverdream hard to define for some, but we like to think of them as low hype, high impact music. At times they can thrash their way into your head with their punky dreampop coolness, and on the next track carry you away into a nether world with their richly textured atmospheric soundscapes. It's no wonder Rolling Stone Australia likened them to a "crackling stockwhip". With their second release, a full length CD called "Somewhere Elsewhere", the critical raves poured in as before. At this time Australian radio took notice, and SPBS, RRR, JJJ and even the BBC put Feverdream into their rotation. After extensive touring throughout Australia, they made their way back into the studio to record what fans and critics alike have described as their first fully realized album - "Moniker". A kind of summation of their style and sound, from haunting moodiness to all out white noise guitar assaults, it quickly became their best selling release. Not a bunch to rest on their laurels, they embarked on an even more intense series of live shows.
With the release of "You Don't Know Who We Are, But We Know Who You Are", Feverdream set their sights on conquering the world, particularly America. Featuring some of the best tracks from "Somewhere Elsewhere" and "Moniker", as well as new and previously unreleased material, "You Don't Know us..." has become a great introduction for new fans. With widespread airplay on U.S. college radio, this marked a turning point in their career. The critical raves were overwhelmingly positive and this put pressure on the band to deliver the goods on their follow up release. The follow up, "Songs by Strung Out Singles", had critics raving from the get go.
Db magazine called the CD "the best collection of songs by an Australian band in the last ten years". Take that AC/DC, Silverchair and Midnight Oil! This release features some line up changes (they went from a five piece to a four piece with two new members) and an acute attention to detail with superb songwriting and dynamic, intelligently conceptualized production. Check them out now, you'll be glad you did.
