The Wonderful Peace CD consists of some old gospel music along with several new songs never before heard. It's message is simply that God loves us, is good to us, good for us, and can fulfill a void that nothing else in the world can. How this album came about is an interesting story, at least for me.

Hi, I'm Gary Johnson, founder and owner of Sound Mind Studios in Raleigh, NC. A few years ago a large music store chain went out of business and had a huge sale. While shopping for musical instruments for my kids, I ventured into the pro audio section. I've loved music all my life, and have always been interested in electronics as a hobby...I built a color TV and a music synthesizer in the mid seventies, both from kits. As I looked around, I thought of the possibility of recording CDs for church members that I have heard sing and play for years...our church is blessed with quite a few of them. In the months that followed, Sound Mind Studios was born.

Gene Kessler and Karl Kissinger, the primary talent involved in this project have been performing together for many years at church, and other musical ministries. Their first CD, Shall We Gather At the River was done "live" in the studio for friends and family to enjoy. It turned out pretty good and several of my friends at work bought one. In the near future, after some polishing, it will be available. Back to the story though. Gene is the outreach minister at our church, and he and Karl routinely performed at church and other ministries in the area.

When Karl's work took him to western NC last spring, Gene needed help to continue the outreach work he was doing, and asked me to join him and a couple of other musically talented friends join the group. I am by far the least talented, (he told me to play softly til I knew what I was doing) but am willing to help. Before publishing the CD, I insisted that we come up with a group name that people who enjoyed the music would recognize if and when future CDs are done. We struggled with names that would fit, that would identify us, and while throwing out ideas, the comment was made that we were just some friends in Christ, and so, Friends In Christ it is! And since we sing, at least most of us, singers was added to the name.

The older well known songs are done by Gene and Karl, the new ones were written by Gene and He and I did most of the vocal and instruments. Hope you enjoy the CD...if so...more to come! Thanks for visiting, and be sure to at least give the samples a try.
