A jazzy folk-rock sound, colourful lyrics, killer arrangements, and "why it is made out-a bone."
13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Album Rock, JAZZ: Jazz-Pop
Details:
The Seventh Triangle are returning in 2008 with their latest release âHotel Vallejoâ on NewHatRecords.
Returning to their original format of Jason Peri writing all of the groupâs music (except for the seven-second guitar introduction on âMake Me Appreciateâ by Dave Tilton), co-writing lyrics with Tilton on the majority of the songs, and splitting the lead vocal duties. Returning to a format that began with their 1986 debut recording âApart From Everything.â
Returning to the lyrical drumming of Scott Moreno, who joined the group on the 2001 CD âDiamond Barâ and was absent on 2003âs âTOWA.â Returning to lots of guitar solos from Peri (and two from Tilton), the kind that are imaginative AND kickass at the same time. Returning to Periâs cinematically musical arrangements and pristine engineering.
Returning to what Brad Bradberry, twenty-one years ago in the independent music publication Option Magazine, called Tiltonâs âwonderfully expressive (harmonica playing), reminiscent of the great jazz-pop player Toots Thielemans.â Returning to three-part harmony vocals.
Returning to an approach found in Peri's "Lucky Numbers," the CD that Lee Prosser recently described in JazzReview.com as âfresh, creative, and solidly original.â
Returning to songs about love and other weird topics: watching former Vallejo resident Sly Stone on the Grammys before driving a car to see a woman who lives in Slyâs old town; the legend of the Colter Stone and its eerie parallel with contemporary sports memorabilia; being bored and getting fat in âDead-End Jobâ; a song celebrating the place where all of the people named Walter live; and âWindow To Willoughby,â based upon a classic âTwilight Zoneâ episode.
Returning to your CD player or iPod with âHotel Vallejo,â because you definitely want this music. Itâs good stuff.
People who are interested in The Beatles Steely Dan Todd Rundgren should consider this download.
