In only a year, Somastate has experienced a quick rise to becoming one of the best local acts in Calgary. With their heavy guitar-driven sound, massive drums and catchy choruses, Somastate delivers a passionate product that both entertains and inspires.

With the release of their first EP entitled âReversalsâ, Somastate will be promoting their single,
âWrapped Around a Bulletâ to radio in early 2008. Having owned the room at both âSupernova Band on the Runâ and making it into the top three bands in Calgaryâs âBand vs Band 2â, it is not surprising that they were also selected from among thousands of others to perform 2007âs Vans Warped Tour in Calgary. In addition to playing Junofest and the main stage at Albertaâs Own Independent Music Festival, they have also shared the stage with bands such as Throwdown, My American Heart, State of Shock, Secret and Whisper and Canadian stalwarts 54-40.

Whether it is the ethereal guitar playing reminiscent of the Deftones or the memorable choruses found in A Perfect Circle, itâs not hard to see that the music extends past typical rock boundaries. Appealing to those on either side of the spectrum, Somastate couples a fresh perspective with a unique and unforgettable sound.
