A native of Rome, Italy, Armando Zuppa has lived there until 1996. At the age of 6 has started playing guitar and soon was playing with numerous bands throughout High School and College.
It wasnât until 1990 that he fell in love with the banjo and with Bluegrass Music.
In Italy had his first Bluegrass band, The Soda Rangers playing shows in Rome and surrounding cities as well as on the Radio with the band as well as in a duo called Street Blues Duel.
As the banjo was becoming a very important part of his life as a musician he moved to Denver, Colorado in 1996 and lived and played there for 10 years, becoming one of the most prominent and eclectic musicians of the state.
In Colorado he has had numerous bands and shared the stage with some of the best musicians in the state including Ross Martin (Tony Furtado Band, Freedom Ride, Molly OâBrien Band, The Motet), Matt Flinner, Tony Furtado, Tony Trishcka, Ben Kaufman (Yonder Mountain String Band), Tempa and the Tantrums to name a few.
Between the year 1998 and 2003 has toured along with the Italian Newgrass Band âNew Country Kitchenâ within the American Midwest including playing at the prestigious Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, Taste Of Colorado Festival and the Crestone Music Festival.
In 2001 the CD âZuppermanâ (produced by Italyâs #1 Fiddler Anchise Bolchi) was released and encountered an unanimous enthusiasm and favor among the music industry.
Bluegrass Unlimited, Dirty Linen and other major magazines all had great reviews of the Album.
Armandoâs new CD âSoup Kitchenâ was released October 24th 2005, under the wing of Hapi Skratchâs Avant Acoustic label and won the Hapi Skratch award for âBest Acoustic recording of 2005â and also was in the âBest recording of the yearâ list by Westword Magazine.
Nowadays Armando has move to South Florida and plays a variety of different genres on the Banjo and performs in a variety of formats: as a solo, duo, trio of with the full 4 piece band.
His repertoire includes Rock, Bluegrass, Swing, Jazz and Classical Music.
Itâs the mix of those apparently not related genres that makes his music unforgettable and unique and a show youâll want to tell your friends about.
People who are interested in Béla Fleck Tony Furtado Alison Brown should consider this download.
