Four Star Mary is an independent rock band based in California comprised of members with origins from around the U.S. Each of the founding members and musicians who have worked with the band bring a healthy dose of divergent musical backgrounds, and you start to see why journalist have splashed praises in magazines such as LA Weekly, Q Magazine, Classic Rock, Metal Hammer, to name a few, saying such things as "more sense and sensitivity (plus a dose of mighty melodic intuition) than they have any right to" and songs "sport epic choruses and churning, scything guitar lines... enough to make record executives across America weep with regret. "
Despite the odds, FSM was formed, and the resulting synergy of minds and music led to a group that is not only prolific, but (unlike most of its brethren) actually writes as a group. Four Star Mary is a collaborative musical effort. Everyone in FSM is a good songwriter in his own right. And almost more importantly, everyone listens to each other. The only aspect of their songs that doesn't represent a combined effort by all is the lyrics, that is Tad Looney's private domain. (Tad is lead singer and yes "Looney" is his birth name.) " The result of this collaboration has been slow but steady growth of Four Star Mary's profile within the overwhelming multitude of bands that comprise the music scene worldwide. And in addition to live shows, Four Star Mary songs have been used by television shows such as ABC's Miracles, Fox's "Party of Five," MTV's "The Real World" and "Road Rules" and the WB's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" raising the band's profile internationally.
The result of TV exposure was a deluge of fan email and soaring sales of Four Star Mary's self-titled EP and subsequent full length CDs. FSM has enticed fans to see live shows after listening to their recording and buy CDs and other goodies after experiencing their explosive live shows.
Four Star Mary is in the midst of finishing their 4th full length CD Titled "Hello It's Me" primarily self-supported. Which says a lot in the aggressive world of music.
