Highway 51 is a Memphis blues rock band led by singer/songwriter/producer Carl "Blue" Wise of Blueboy Records. Carl sings lead and background vocals, along with Bobby Maxwell on lead rhythm guitar and lead/background vocals, Lisa Meggs singing female background vocals, with Jim Cantrell on lap steel and dobro, Ronnie Williams on B3 and grand piano, along with legendary producer Willie Mitchell (Al Green) of Royal Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. Additional background vocals by The Masqueraders, Derrick Smith, and James King. Special grand piano by Willie Mitchell. Mixed by WIllie Mitchell and produced by Carl "Blue" Wise.

Itâs all about the journey. Highway 51 runs from the northern tip of Wisconsin to within miles of New Orleans, LA. Somewhere in between on this great highway is where Carl âBlueâ Wise and Bobby Maxwell met. Neither of the two had any idea that as a result of their chance meeting they would record an album, entitled âHighway 51â, at the legendary Royal Recording Studios in Memphis, TN. Realizing the depth and potential of the songs they had written, Wise and Maxwell wanted to make an album with great musicians playing real instruments. In order to perform R&B, Pop, Rock, Americana and Gospel all on one album, the musicians had to be as deep as the songs themselves.
