J.J. Kent is the adopted son of a full-blooded Lakota
woman from the Oglala band and along with his Creek heritage
was immersed in a proud lineage of both Nations. As a speaker,
musician, and educator, J.J. Kent represents the Oglala
Lakota Nation, whose heritage is indelibly inked on his soul.
Some years ago, J.J. was asked to share his knowledge of
Native American History and story telling tradition with
school children, which has become an important part of a
spiritual journey for many. J.J. has spoken at many different
educational levels from college to elementary. He was also a
Nominee at Indian Summer Music Festival Awards in 2004
and a Nominee at the 2005 Native American Music Awards.
Through education and music this talented entertainer has
touched many different hearts.
