The Larry Redhouse Trio is led by Navajo pianist, Larry Redhouse, based out of Tucson, AZ. A First Nations musician performing Americaâs only original musical art form - Jazz.
Larry has been playing piano for over 30 years. In his youth he was inspired by the music of Jim Hendrix, Santana, and the Beatles, which motivated him to also learn the trumpet, drums and Latin percussion too. Later, knowing that his forte was jazz stylings, Larry would go on to incorporate a combination of these influences into his piano music.
His music has evolved into a modern sound of mature, original jazz innovation, with an edge of raw creative energy. His direction in jazz emphasizes improvisation, unique interpretations of jazz standards and heartfelt, soul stirring original compositions. The Trio plays through straight ahead jazz, Latin, funk and acoustic fusion seamlessly, while maintaining an air of open musical spontaneity.
"If You Only Knew" an original composition from his previous release âLive at The Westward Look" was chosen as one of Music Resource Groups 7 finalists in its 2004 Independent Music Awards (IMA) - Jazz category. The list of finalists in 18 music categories included solo artists and bands from the United States, Canada, England, France and Switzerland.
Performing regionally, nationally and internationally, the Trio plays jazz festivals, concert venues, resorts, casinos and corporate events. Larry has lead groups that have opened concerts for such jazz legends as Chick Corea, Terence Blanchard and Donald Harrison.
Recent honors, for which Larry has been asked to perform, have included the Smithsonian Museum, sold out performances at the Kennedy Center Jazz Club in Washington, DC, and the Steinway Peace Piano Concert. The Trio also performed at the Grenoble Jazz Festival 2006 in Grenoble, France.

The discovery of the artist occurred during a municipal delegationâs trip to Phoenix in April of 2005. âConquered by the artist, we decided to book him on the program,â says Jacques Panisset, director of the festival. A judicious choice. The synergy was very quickly realized between the charmed audience and the musicians". To begin with Larry Redhouse. For his first concert in Europe, the Navajo Indian pianist enchanted with his prodigious fingering technique and his great virtuosity. The style of the American is indefinable. Influenced by âfunk music, rock and the Indian cultureâ he created an original music. Everyone could recognize the airs of great standards among the improvisations. The music was executed with brio, accessible to all. âI was raised with the Indian culture which led me to search for my own spirituality.
