A true âDanâ (i.e., from the Tribe of Dan) is âPositive and Strongâ musically and spiritually. A foundation member of the Reggae fraternity he started his musical career with his legendary keyboard brethren Augustus Pablo, while attending high school (Cornwall College, Montego Bay, Jamaica W.I.). Together they recorded the hit song âKentones Rockâ in the â70âs. Latty has worked with a number of great producers, including the legendary Lee âScratchâ Perry and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Mikey âDread At The Controlsâ Campbell, where he had a popular song âBlow Mr. Lattyâ in Europe. Latty also did some work with Trevor Elliott on his âMusical Ambassadorâ label, and has released materials on the following labels as well, Tronic1 Records, RAS Records and now Massive International. Latty is also a âwickedâ Melodica player and he is now working on an instrumental album; Titled: âTribute To Augustus Pabloâ in collaboration with Trevor Elliott.
Latty is no stranger to the Jamaican charts as he had songs like âCool Down Woman, Donât You Chuck It, Lets Go Dancing, Drugs Trafficking, et alâ in the RJR/JBC charts in the mid â80âs. Also, in the 1980âs, Latty Guzang released is debut album, âPositive & Strongâ with RAS records. In the early â90âs, he was nominated by New York Cityâs âTamika Awardsâ for his hit single âSix For A Nineâ. He was nominated again later in the â90âs by South Floridaâs Reggae Soca Awards for âGOD Loves Youâ, hit single. Over the years he has released many singles including âRat Trapâ, âSweet Sweet Africaâ, âOne Love Sessionâ, and âDonât Be No Kruffâ, in combination with Reggae Queen Marcia Griffiths. This is a beautiful song with a strong message. He has released a number of sensational albums; âPositive & Strongâ, âLets Go Dancingâ, âForwardâ, âLive Goodâ, âOne Love Sessionâ, and âNew Day Comingâ, his current album.
