Marianne is a GRAND PRIZE WINNER for the song âThis Worldâ in The 2007 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. This is an international songwriting competition and judges are: Fergie (Black eyed Peas), The Bacon Brothers, Al Jarreau, Robin Gibb (BeeGeeâs) and D12, as well as music industry executives.

Originally from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Marianne initially pursued a career as Certified Public Accountant, but her passion has always been music and the creation of lyrics that reflect life. Following Hurricane Katrina, Marianne realized that having survived the âstormâ she had been given a unique opportunity to purse her lifeâs dream.

âHurricane Katrina devastated so many lives, including that of my own family. As we recovered from the devastation, I was struck by the fragility of life and the realization that so many of us never follow our dreams. I had an extensive portfolio of songs that I had written over the years and decided that it was time for me to go into the studio and start recording. Receiving this level of recognition for my original works is both humbling and truly gratifyingâ

Her first CD âFrom the Waterâ was released in January 2007. Recorded at Doc Rock Recording in Latimer, MS, it is co-produced by Kenneth Leonard. It is also available online. She performs her original music live at the IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi.

Marianneâs music is a blend of many styles such as acoustic, pop and folk music that brings all walks of life together in unity. Her lyrics draw you in and her undeniably catchy melodies keep you there. Her songwriting talent is evident in "Blink of an Eye", the first song on her CD, which offers a catchy hook and playful vocals. "This World" combines a soothing sound and beautiful vocals with a mandolin in the background played by nationally known Denny Sitze. "Caught up in You" shows off her talent not only for writing melodies, but also lyrics. "The Girl in the Tree" is yet another catchy song with a great hook.
