Formed last year from a hybrid of bands from the incestuous Derby music scene, LEON's debut single release, Don't Feed The Animals, sold over a thousand copies.
Twelve months later - after no less than THREE car crashes en route to the studio, a stolen computer (containing all the demos to the album), two broken limbs, and two studio relocations due to "police operations" - producer John Paul Braddock's studio was located next door to an entire family of crack-dealers, from the twelve-year-old daughter through to the granny! - the aptly-titled UPPERS AND DOWNERS album is finally completed.
Basically a collection of twisted love songs, Uppers and Downers deals mainly with the pros and cons of sex and death (surprisingly, not all pros for the former, and not all cons for the latter...), fusing new and old in the mix, from an injection of Hammond organ here to home-grown electronica there.
LEON will be touring the UK in June, but the first taster of the album comes in the form of their new single, BE THERE.
The single, BE THERE, is released in the UK on Freezer Recordings on JUNE 27TH 2005, with the album to follow.
