Rafael Picorelli was born in Santurce, P. R. where at the age of 9 he began formal studies in classical guitar. At the age of 17 he went to study classical guitar in Spain.

In his extensive career as a composer, arranger and musician, he has collaborated with the most important musical groups and theater companies in New York City as well as international level.

In 1985 he performed a live concert of his original compositions with great success. However, he left Puerto Rico to pursue his studies Music Therapy in NYC.

In 1993 Mr. Picorelli brought the Puerto Rican Music Folklore to be performed at the Carnegie Hall in New York City.

In 1995 Mr. Picorelli composed the music for the play âTroya de Americaâ directed and written by Pablo Cabrera, recently awarded with the ACE Award (Asociacion de Cronistas de Espectacutos de Nueva York), for best production of the year 1995.

Mr. Picorelli participated in a concert with âThe Bronx Arts Ensembleâ. NY, NY. During this concert he played Cuatro and guitar in a classical performance, âVivaldi Concerto for Two Mandolins. Three months later, he performed with the Bronx Arts Ensemble at âThe Hostos Center for the Arts & Cultureâ, NY, NY. This time he performed Cuatro and guitar for Gala Concert Celebrating Puerto Rican Heritage Month.

In this CD, Rafael tries to blend rhythms based on his Latin musical heritage with a touch of jazz and classical influences.

Mr. Picorelli holds an MA in Music Therapy from the New York University (NYU).
