Details:
His music is as relaxing as a ride in an open convertible"- this is Audio-Magazine's opinion of Franco Morone's debut album Guitarea. Whether the top italian guitarist conjures up Mediterranean sounds on his instrument or captivates his audience with folk-and-blues influenced instrumental- his music always sounds relaxed and melodic without slipping into superficial realms. On "The South Wind, Franco Morone now presents 14 adaptations of Irish traditionals and compositions by the Irish harpist Turlogh O'Carolan, who lived in the 18th century. At the same time, he treats his instrument in such a sensitive and emotional manner that the listener completely forgets that a brillant technician is at work here. He masters even the most difficult passages so blithely that it sounds like ha had just played them in passing. Jigs, reels, hornpipes - this actually has little to do with fingerstyle guitar music. Yet with Franco Morone the traditionals virtually blossom and sounds as if they had been written just for him. And whether Morone gives a new interpretation of beautiful ballads like "Sheeberg and Sheemore" or dances-jigs and reels like "Merrily Dance The Quaker" and "Turkey In The Straw"- the listener feels like he has suddenly been whisked off to Ireland. Yet, each piece still has Franco Morone's own signature on it, which makes "The South Wind" an irresistible, relaxing mixture.
