Biography of Colvin L. Chambers
Colvin Chambers picked up his first instrument at the age of 10. Having taught himself to play, he discovered his abilities surpassed ordinary talents. At the age of 15, Colvin started his first ministry named Fall-Afresh with only five choir members. The lack of band members contributed to his failure to be taken seriously by the choir and thus within one month, they fell apart. Though discouraged, Colvin kept playing the bass for other groups and choirs in the city.
At 19, Colvin decided to put down the bass and try his hand at the organ. It was here that his gift began to manifest itself. Within that year, Colvin married his beautiful wife Natalie and a few months later, were expecting their first child. Colvin later met a minister by the name of Harry Thompson from Brooklyn, New York who wanted Colvin to play for him. Through that experience he returned to Canada with more motivation and determination to work in the industry.
In 2004 at the age of 23, God spoke to him through a prophet, telling him that his time was now. Within 9 months of the prophetic word,
Colvin formed Freedom2Worship. The word of God states in Joel 2: 25 that "God will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm..." The first day of practice was a confirmation of this when 50 members attended and within their first 4 months they completed 10 originals all written and produced by Colvin.
Colvin is a prime example of those whose strength is renewed in waiting on the Lord. Colvin has experienced many struggles through those years and realized that it all worked out for his good as he has gained wisdom and strength.
His music is fresh, new and changes the way conventional choir music is interpreted. Colvin Chambers has shared the stage with many renowned artists such as Kurt Karr, Fred Hammond, Shirley Caesar, Ricky Dilliard, Israel new breed, Alvin Slaughter, Youthful Praise, Timothy Wright, Malcolm Wilson and JG, Dedrick Haddon, Jason Wright, Papa San and many more.
