Below Jupiter's debut album, Step Into Home(Act I), is a concept record that explores the philosophical journey of a human life. The scene is early 21st century America, and the story is told through the main character in the drama - the philosopher.

Musically, the band's strength is songwriting, particularly in the area of melodic and harmonic invention. Most songs are piano based and eclectically blend elements of rock, pop, punk, jazz, classical, blues, country, folk, funk, r&b, gospel, and experimental music.

"Too bad whoever put together the terrific soundtrack to the coming-of-age film wasn't hip to Below Jupiter. Otherwise, they might have chosen a track off this lo-fi effort from the group. The tender piano ballad "60s Child" or the Pavement-esque "I Am Just The Fool" would have fit nicely on the soundtrack alongside the Moldy Peaches and the Kinks. The stand-out track here, "When The Sun Begins To Rise," sounds like a psychadelic rock standard as the gentle accoustic guitar and droning vocals fit together perfectly."
