Americana, Texas style.

16 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Americana, COUNTRY: Alt-Country

Details:
Based in Houston Texas, Billy's songs are carrying him far
and wide across the Lone Star State, with farther trips
expected in support of the Trained Professionals CD. A
transplant to Texas from Nebraska, Billy's love of music
is deep in the heart of Texas - as he says, "I came to
Texas on purpose!"

"Songwriter's like Jerry Jeff, Guy Clarke, John Prine,
Rodney Crowell, Waylon Jennings, Lyle Lovette, and Todd
Snider, these are the writer's who've influenced me. I love Jason Boland and Stoney LaRue, Reckless Kelly, and Cross Canadian Ragweed. These are the artists that made me pack my guitars and head to Texas."

"The people here have been great! I met my wife here. The
musician community here has been very supportive. People
have really supported the original music. I love Texas!"

The new CD 'Trained Professionals' is a labor of love,
recorded at Sugar Hill Studio, Houston. Produced by Billy
Bourbon, with co-producers Randy Meadows, and Tom Rodgers.
Engineered by Andy Bradley, Horns arranged by Paul English. It features Billy's stage band, and some of the best studio players in Houston.

Billy gives bang for your buck on this CD with 16 tracks
(less than a dollar a song!).

Here's a review from the Scene magazine's Jim Shortt
TRAINED PROFESSIONALS: Billy Bourbon Nuclear Records March 31, 2008. This singer/songwriter, alternative country project has 16 tracks. All are originals penned by Bourbon. Total time is 57' 13". Bourbon did a lot of things right to ensure a top quality CD with super sound. He recorded it at Sugar Hill Studios with resident genius engineer Andy Bradley at the helm. He augmented his band with top musicians and they all played well. The great Paul English arranged and conducted the excellent horn section. Bourbon has a first-rate voice â he sounds good and he delivers the his material effectively. But the real strength of the album lies in the songs. Bourbon had a lot to say and he said it all well. His lyrics have that ring of truth rather than trite hooks that get old before the ink is dry. The CD opens with "Gas Money," a ditty that we can all relate to at today's pump prices. Next comes "Tore Up From the Floor Up," an old style, free spirited country song about going out drinking with a "drinking gal." "Cadillac Back," is a funny tune about the woes of having your Caddy repossessed. It features some fine honky-tonk piano. Complete with the requisite whining steel guitar, the title tune is a country song about how not to live life and not corrupting amateurs. "Stone The Killer" and "Me And Sam" are neat cowboy story-songs about a bygone era. "She Loves Me" is a ballad about finally finding love and being "⦠too damn old to fight." "Take The Day Off" begins as a light ditty and ends up with a strong message about not letting your job grind you down. "Know Each Other Better" is a dandy formula for making love work. "Getting Old" talks about the woes of aging and it's right on the money. "Millionaire" is the funny but all too true story about what so many musicians dream about finding. "Wouldn't Let Him Go" is the well-told story of drugs and alcohol stopping the success of a great talent. The song features some great blues piano and guitar. The CD closes with "Sobriety," among the funniest songs that this reviewer has heard in years. If ever the lyrics of a song ever captured the truth, these do. No matter your taste in popular music, this album is truly entertaining. Very highest recommendation.

We hope you'll buy a cd or a download. Keep original independent artists makin the music.

Thanks for your support.
