About Camilla:

Camilla, a Swedish born singer now living in the West Cork village of Schull, has had a widely varied musical career, which ranges from opera to jazz. She has performed as a solo artiste and as a vocalist with bands and she is also the wife of a rock music artist.

You ask her why she sings. She will tell you how she loves singing and when you hear her voice and watch this beautiful, warm person on stage, you will know she really does love singing. Her voice comes directly from her heart and soul and there is no doubt that she can spellbind an audience with her earthy, elegant and also sexy exuberance.

Whether on the big city stage or in a smaller venue, she has the ability to give you an experience that will remain with you long after her last note has been sung. Her repertoire ranges from opera to rock and covers all the many variations in between but, through it all, she is still the same person with a passion for music, love and all that is good in life. Good in the way that it warms you and makes you long for more.
Rum and Chocolate

She is now launching a CD recorded in Lima in Peru called âRum and Chocolateâ. It is called âRum and Chocolateâ in honour of the world renowned percussionist Julio âChocolateâ Algendones, who plays on the record along with the Peruvian guitarist, Andrés Prado, to create a fusion of two very different cultures. In this recording, Peru meets Sweden with a rich undercurrent of Afro-Peruvian rhythms. This CD contains an intriguing blend that once listened to, you will want to hear all over again. It is filled with passion, gladness, life and rhythm that will transport you.

Camilla's career:

After studying music at a very famous academy in Stockholm, Camilla started her professional career as an opera singer in the early 90âs. Prior to that she was a regular performer in different jazz clubs in Stockholm and travelled throughout Europe on musical tours until her singing led her to London where she signed a record contract with A&M Records as the lead singer in a band called One 2 Many. It was during this time she met her husband singer/songwriter Colin Vearncombe known as âBlackâ and author of âWonderful Lifeâ. Camilla and Colin moved to West Cork in 2003 and now have 3 sons. The house where they live literally marks the end of a long road but the same cannot be said for Camillaâs career.

Apart from her successful solo career, she also plays a significant part in the musical project âDogtail Soupâ that stages wildly eclectic, large scale performances at home and abroad. The group includes musicians Colin Vearncombe (Black) Fergus OâFarrell (Interference) Maurice Seezer and Paul Tiernan and is often joined by prominent guests and the Wild West Choir which Camilla personally formed in 2006. They have recently completed a tour of Eastern Europe that was received ecstatically by audiences who, along with others fortunate enough to see one of their shows, were mesmerised by the sheer joy, musical brilliance and professionalism of their performance. Camilla has trained with several prominent teachers and artists and her list of performances is long and varied. Her tours with Colin have extended to South Africa, Europe and the UK.

So what more can be said about Camilla? â except that she is worth every second you spend with her and that so long as she continues to sing, she will continue to offer her audience the beauty and excitement that only music can give you!
