Description:
A jazz funk headspace with extended solos over exhilarating grooves

14 MP3 Songs
JAZZ: Jazz Fusion, JAZZ: Bebop

Details:
Some people share the same headspace, doesn't matter where they live. Doesn't matter what their background. With music it's about passion, sound, groove. With musicians it's about playing, evolving, collaborating. For the Funkdawgs it's about opportunity, interaction, freedom. Dawgma is this virtual band's second intra-planet cyberventure. The urban jazz-funk that surfaces from this fusion reflects clarity, soul and depth. Wav Files that connect each Dawg become tone patterns surfacing in the backgrounds. Modulating. Pulsating. Unpredictable. Dawgma has its own spirit. Let it flow. You'll find the groove remains Borderless. It's a headspace and vibe we invite you to share with the Dawgs.

Here's a review by Rambro at the Official Incognito Web site Forum:

The first impression I get from Dawgma is a good one (but you already know that, or I wouldn't be reviewing it!) Organic is the word that springs to mind when listening to this outing (quite an accomplishment when you consider how the music was put together: wav files via internet!). The sound of the instrumentation and the playing seem to flow so naturally. A definite turnaround from the supercharged shards of funk-fusion The Dawgs offered up on their debut outing.

All kinds of influence surface on this 14 track set,(Santana on C'est OK Comme Ca, The JB's on the Cats Meow...even a nod to Mancini's Pink Panther on the title track. You'll find some healthy dollops of Hammond B3 (or some digital facsimile thereof) supplied by Kyle Whitlock (Columbia South Cacka lacka) and the rocking, funking, and getting downright bluesy guitar work courtesy of Bobby Brewer from Music City (Nashville) Tennessee. Bob Johnson's sexy sinewy sax work lights up a number of tracks (checkout the BBQ Roadhouse Blues, where both Johnson and Brewer shine). A wah- wah driven Kibbles and Grits had me reaching for my bottle of Jack Daniels...talk about "down-home"! There's a vocal outing this time around, on the soulful Tailfeather, I think the lead is the songs co-writer, Michael Summers (written along with Bobby Brewer).

The constant throughout the set is the kick-butt rhythm section, you know I have to give the drummer and the bass man some...yeah that's right, break 'em off a big chunk o' funk! Those would be Fillipo Bertacche on the skins (Vincenza, Italy) and Bill Lawrence (Albany, New York)...that's an awfully big stage you guys play on. Some tasty soloing and fills can be found on a number of tracks (title track, and Quit That; some nice brush work by Bertacche to complement Lawrence's tasty bass solo on Type AB.

The design of the packaging was by none other than our own Cog-Head, Stephen from Canada (thanks for breaking down the technicalities of how the designs came together...thought those 'blue spider-man things" looked familiar.

Other influences I'm hearing; a little Soulive, the guitar and piano work on Solstice also sound familiar, a take on the Stanley Clarke 'School Days' riff can be found on the corking closer, Foundation where the Funkdawgs go all out. It doesn't matter where the cues come from, however, as it all comes out Funkdawgs!

If you like your beats swinging from the jook joint, this is a must set for you...CHECK IT!

PS. Thanks to Stephen Hards for my 'review copy'...cheers mate!
