After a freak accident left Brouillet (vocals) unable to speak for over a month, he realized he had something to say. In this period of silence he was filled with the frustration to create what he could no longer express in words. After recovering, Brouillet founded Dog Men Poets. He combined his vocal and keyboard talents with, long time friend, G-Smiles' funk guitar, BJ's drums/percussion, and Fernando's slap-happy bass to form Dog Men Poets.

Most often compared to Red Hot Chili Peppers metts Stevie Wonder with that G-Love style, the Dog Men Poets have continued to control their sound while continuing to create meaningful as well as funk/soul-filled music.
