BraveHeart:
Anatomy of a CEO
What does it take to found and develop a full four-company conglomerate without a bank loan?
How do you create product that sells without a full marketing team?
How would you then package your products, create graphics, an online presence, attract private investors, nearly go belly up, but then rise again like the proverbial Phoenix who rose from the ashes only to take wings and soar again?
Well if youâre interested and would like to take some pointers from some brave soul whoâs been there and returned, we have just the mentor for you.
Introducing The Artist DUE'LYRIC: also known as Mr. David Sovereign, the Stellar Award-winning Founder and CEO of the media conglomerate of Zoe Multimedia Inc., the firmâs parent company which houses an independent record label (Jahari Records America), a marketing and performing arts company (Phoenix Audiovisual Arts & Co.), and a digital recording studio (Zoe SoundDesign Studios), planted in the deeply fertile ground of Oaklandâs seaport mini-city, Jack London Square, located in the heart of the growing development district of the Port of Oakland, California.
When asked how in the world he accomplished the feats weâve listed here, yet have time for himself, his wife (who, from her smile and her body language, is obviously deeply pleased with her man), family, God, even friends, his reply was deceptively humble for a man of his accomplishments. âSometimes I do well, sometimes I miss the mark. But when I do miss it I learn well from it and start over. I always hope that the important people in my life will have patience with me as I learn how to make it all happen. Iâm patient with them and with myself, so I think that creates a kind of Nirvana of sorts, which makes for a sweet home life. My family loves me because they receive love from me. I think that Itâs easier to love someone who loves you back."
Born into the inner-city ghettos of Oakland California, and raised without the benefit of a father figure, David somehow developed an aptitude for guitar, bass, and piano. Being the youngest of three, with the closest sibling being four years his senior, David spent quite a bit of time alone, not old enough to hang with his elder siblings.
âI think thatâs where all of my creativity came from. I wasnât popular, tall, or handsome, so I had a lot of time on my hands. My sisters loved me but I couldnât hang with them - they were girls! They were too soft to play football with, and I couldnât punch them back when they socked me, so I had to be my own company. I think it had to be my motherâs prayers that kept me from spending my time selling weed or doing dirt. I saw Leo, my neighbor playing a guitar, and I became hooked. All my time went there, and I never looked back.â
David became a young prodigy while still in Junior High School (now itâs âMiddle Schoolâ), and by the eighth grade, scouts from the University of California, Berkeley (Mr. Bill Bell - Jazz Master), and others, had ushered the young guitarist into the Young Musicians Program at UC under scholarship to study flamenco and classical guitar, and to also hold a spot in UC Berkeleyâs Jazz Ensemble. The administrators had also created a future slot for him at Castlemont High School, Oakland CA, as a musician and tenor for the multi-honored Castleers, a worldwide touring ensemble under the direction of the late Mr. Phil Reeder.
âWatching the two of them (Mr. Bell and Mr. Reeder) play piano was completely mesmerizing. They were both masters, and I had to learn how to do what they did. Mr. Reeder had that grand ballroom style, and Mr. Bell had that dope jazz thing going on, and I combined the two styles and added my thing. My friends say I play piano as if Iâm playing the guitar - I guess thatâs a good thing!â
After picking up bass guitar skills from his older friend Byron Smith (âUggieâ) and composition skills from play-brother and mentor Clayton âClaytovenâ Richardson (also his business savvy), life would never be the same again.
Now having toured the world, fathered wonderful children, and studied under some of Godâs greatest minds, this Lover and true Friend is poised to deliver lyric, music, poetry, and provocative literature of a sort that is difficult to find in such a superficial world.
Finally. A Lyric thatâs Due. Itâs about time.
People who are interested in Stevie Wonder Jill Scott should consider this download.
