After making a name for himself both in Tahiti and the US, Tahitian guitar player, singer and songwriter Florent Atem was contacted by John Cuniberti (The Dead Kennedys, Joe Satriani) who expressed interest in working with him.

The recordings took place at The Plant Studios in Sausalito, California and Neos Studios in Hawaii. The band featured, his sister Carole Atem as well as some of the worldâs finest musicians : drummer Jeff Campitelli (Joe Satriani) and bass players Michael Manring and Matt Bissonette (Joe Satriani, Ringo Starr, Don Henley, Brian Wilson, David Lee Roth, Christopher Crossâ¦). After several trips to California and Hawaii, the album Dream Town was birthed featuring all original material by Florent, ranging from guitar-driven pieces to radio-friendly tunes in a pop/rock format.

Chicago-based guitar hero Michael Angelo Batio praised both Florentâs playing and songwriting; today, John Cuniberti himself views Florent Atem as âthe new Joe Satrianiâ â with a style of his own.

Soon after the release of Dream Town, Florent Atem became the first Tahitian to be nominated for a Grammy along with great Hawaiian artists such as Jack Johnson, Ledward Ka'apana.
