The band has a magnetic acoustic sound with the intricate melodic beats of drummer Dan Ferguson. Dan's jazz drum background provides a sonic canvas to Matt's guitar & vocals.

Ifitis formed in 2003 and was originally comprised of Matthew performing vocals and electric guitar, Dan on drums , and bassist Alan Spivak. In 2004 Alan left the band to pursue personal obligations and the band headed in a new acoustic direction.

Matthew's artistic, symphonic aptitude is rare and uncommonly heard. His skill with multiple instruments allows him to compose his unrepeated sound. Fans inquire often of Matthew's unique guitar picking and chord structure.

Ifitis draws from many influences of varying eras and genres. Maynard of Tool & A Perfect Circle, Anthony Green of Circa Survive, Brandon Boyd of Incubus, and solo Justin Timberlake have all been vocal and lyrical influences.
