When it comes to modern compositions, Branimir Krstic knows that many listeners opt to âstay outside,â finding the music somewhat inaccessible. Sometimes the only way to express important ideas is the hard way, so always choosing the easy path invariably leads to essential omissions.

In the shade of the Cologne cathedral, Branimir was taught by some of the most prominent members of âThe Cologne Schoolâ, a phenomenon influenced by some of the greatest post WWII composers. While Branimirâs style began brewing in the early 1990s and matured at the break of the new millennium, it bears the influence of the works in genres other than âmodernâ music. This approach added freshness and originality to the traditional styles (represented on other volumes of this anthology) with which Branimir had worked. The compositions here reflect the legacy of the Western avant-garde, yet forge into new territories. They are also very personal reflections of an intellectual and passionate musician, who is both engaging and entertaining. Nevertheless, to end with Oscar Wilde: âThose who go beneath the surface do so at their own peril.â


The collected guitar works of Branimir Krstic consists mainly of world premiere recordings. Brilliantly performed by the author, who also supervised every step of its production, the series not only introduces a unique and original body of work to the world audience, but also shows that the most suitable way to present such works is through creatively harnessing the power and possibilities of the internet.
