Michael Beauchamp is a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and a product of the University of Michigan's Musicology program. While in Ann Arbor, Beauchamp explored songwriting with fellow musicians Chris Bathgate and Karl Sturk in the band The Ambitious Brothers. Beauchamp, a guitar player from an early age, developed his chops on many other instruments in The Ambitious Brothers, including banjo and mandolin. Beauchamp has played with many other Michigan-based folk acts, including Seth Bernard and Daisy May Erlewine, Breathe Owl Breathe, Steppin' In It, Greensky Bluegrass, and the aforementioned Chris Bathgate. He has also studied guitar with the acclaimed guitarist Joel Mabus. Beauchamp lives in Kalamazoo.
