Original Irish folk music, if that's not an oxymoron.
12 MP3 Songs
WORLD: Celtic, FOLK: Celtic Folk
Details:
Back in the early 1990's, Jim Nelson wrote a song called, "Hats Off to Beer". It was recorded by The Black Velvet Band, from New London, WI. Jim was their guitar player and some-time singer. The song went over well with the crowds, and soon became a favorite all over the world in its freely-downloadable digitized form. Bandmate Mike O'Connell used to introduce the song by saying, "And now Jim's gonna sing a love song as if he knows something about it! It's called 'Hats Off to Beer'."
That song, and the rest of these, are all from recordings that Jim made during his time with The Black Velvet Band. Most of them, like "Hats Off to Beer", are Jim's original compositions. A few, like "All for Me Grog", "The Jolly Tinker", and the medley of "Red-Haired Boy/Whiskey Before Breakfast" are traditional Irish favorites. The rest are Jim's.
The Black Velvet Band is (was): Judy O'Connell on Keyboards and Vocals; Mike O'Connell on Guitar, Tin Whistle, Mandolin, Hammered Dulcimer and Vocals; Dave Mulroy on Bohdran and Vocals; and Jim Nelson on Guitar, Harmonica, Mandolin and Vocals. They played many venues in and around the northeastern Wisconsin region.
So, sit back, relax, and raise a glass while you listen to some thirst-quenching Irish folk music.
